Also, I had fun staying at Nike Guest House Oshogbo. This place is one of my favorite place to stay in Oshogbo Osun state. Click here for my vlog on Nike guest house to have a feel of the hospitality of this place.
Nike art gallery Oshogbo & workshop
These two places are must visit in Osun state. Nike art gallery Oshogbo and workshop are both located at Ofatedo Osun state. Nike workshop is also known as the batik center. This is because it is a training center and workshop for making Adire Fabric batik. You need add these places among the 5 best things to do in Osun state on your visit.
Adire Batik is more classy and high-end as compared to its tye-dye counterparts. On my visit, we were given a tour of the place. The process involved in making each Adire batik textile and the finished products. It was quite educative.
The Nike art gallery Oshogbo on the other hand is quite beautiful. How much does it cost to get into the Nike art gallery? It is free to access. Unlike the Nike art gallery in Lagos, this gallery is quite small. However, the artsy architecture makes it an instagrammable place to visit. The gallery in Oshogbo is self-run by the trainees and workers. However, it is still owned by Nike.
Adire batik is top on my wishlist holiday gift idea. So, fingers crossed to get it soonest.
Osun Oshogbo Sacred grove
Another of the 5 best things to do in Osun state is to visit the Osun Oshogbo sacred grove. This is a UNESCO heritage center in Nigeria. The entry fee is 200 naira per person. However, you have to pay extra to use your camera at this place.
How to locate Osun Oshogbo’s sacred grove? I went with a group so It is quite hard to describe the location. However, it is a few kilometers from Ofatedo. This place is quite beautiful.
My only issue is that some fetish activities still take place there. However, it is worth visiting in Osun state. I enjoyed my wall on the bridge in the grove. Although, the monkeys are quite troublesome. We were advised to get bananas for them to keep them off. Also, you need to watch your mobile devices or put them away. This is because the monkeys may assume that it is food and take it from you. lol.
Natural History Museum
Natural History Museum is another fun place to visit in Osun state. It is located inside Obafemi Awolowo University Ife ( O.A.U). The entry fee is 200naira per person.
This place is a museum for historic plants and animals sourced both locally and internationally. You can go on a tour in this one-story building to see corals, fishes, wild animals, historic items like beads, etc. It was a fun tour and learning experience for me.
So, if you need a budget-friendly place to visit in Osun, check out the Natural history museum.
Erin Ijesha Water Falls
Another of the 5 best things to do in Osun state is to visit the Erin IJesha Waterfall. This place is located in the Erin community in Ijesha. You can take a bus from Ijesha to Erin Ijesha. It is also known as Olumirin waterfalls.
What should I wear to Erin Ijesha waterfalls? As a lady, you need a shower cap and bathing suit. You can wear shorts and a bikini top or crop top to bathe in the waterfall. Men can wear shorts and shirts to the waterfall. However, I will recommend you take extra clothes to change after the cool shower.
Also, be ready for hiking by wearing shoes that have a grip. You can opt for a pair of sneakers or sandals. Flip-flops or slippers are a waste when climbing these over 200 steps. The entry fee is 1000naira per person. They are open all days of the week.
