Best things to do in Lagos for the weekend
I have written so much about Lagos you will have an idea that I know this city that never sleeps. From hotels to stay to places to visit in Lagos. In which for Lagos there is so much to do for fun.
Since its that time of the year when we will be going on leave and all that. This list for me is to cater for those who work all week but need something to do over the weekend. I decided to share this round up best things to do in Lagos for the weekend.
Now lets dive in
Go for a Brunch
Let’s start slow and stylish. Weekends in Lagos always begin with brunch. There’s something magical about sipping on an iced latte while nibbling on pancakes, surrounded by plants and that aesthetic white-and-wood décor.
I love heading to Café One in Lekki, not just for the food but also for the vibe. It’s a co-working space during the week, but on weekends, it transforms into this relaxed hub of creatives, influencers, and brunch enthusiasts. Their French toast? A spiritual experience.
Another gem is MyYa’s Café in Victoria Island — cozy, artsy, and their egg Benedict will change your life. Go hungry, go early, and please take pictures (because if you don’t post your brunch on IG, did it even happen?).
Visit a Beach
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you haven’t fully experienced Lagos until you’ve had a proper beach day. Flip-flops, coconut drinks, grilled fish, and that salty breeze? Pure therapy. For a list of beaches to visit in Lagos, click here.
I once played beach volleyball with strangers who became friends – shoutout to Tolu and the crew! There are also food vendors, jet skis, and even camel rides (yes, camels. In Lagos. I know.)
Explore Nike Art Gallery
Every time I walk into Nike Art Gallery, I feel like I’m stepping into a different world that is full of colors, culture, and creativity. It’s a four-story building packed with incredible Nigerian art from massive canvas pieces to intricate beadwork and carvings.
I’m not even going to lie, the first time I went, I spent three hours there and still didn’t want to leave. It’s free to enter, and the staff are always super friendly and happy to explain the stories behind the artwork.
Wear comfortable shoes, take lots of photos, and don’t be shy to buy a souvenir or two. That’s how you support local talent!
Catch a Live Band at Terra Kulture or Bogobiri
There’s something about Lagos nightlife that comes alive when there’s live music involved. If you’re looking to unwind in the most soulful way possible, head to Terra Kulture or Bogobiri House in Ikoyi.
Terra Kulture often has spoken word events, stage plays, and Afro-jazz nights that will blow your mind. Bogobiri, on the other hand, is an eclectic, Afrocentric boutique hotel with a weekly Thursday night live music session that is… elite.
I once stumbled into a performance that turned into a dance party with strangers. Lagos is wild like that.

Go Thrifting at Yaba Market
Now this one’s for my adventurous girls and guys. If you love fashion and have the patience of a saint, Yaba Market is your goldmine. It’s chaotic, yes, but it’s where you find vintage Levi’s for N3,000 or the perfect denim jacket no one else owns.
Go with cash, dress simple (no designer labels here please!), and get ready to bargain like your life depends on it. I promise, the thrill of finding a gem for cheap is unmatched. Oh, and wear sneakers. Trust me.
I have written a blog post on my best places to thrift in Lagos which you should check out. Mushin on the other hand is still growing on me, I am yet to find quality thrift but will update you guys.

Sip & Paint
If you’ve never done a Sip & Paint class in Lagos, you are missing out on some serious dopamine. These sessions are now everywhere and they’re perfect for friend dates or solo unwinding.
You’ll sip on wine (or zobo if you’re driving), paint your version of a guided artwork, and probably end up laughing at how “abstract” your lion looks. It’s pure joy, no judgment, and the perfect way to flex your inner artist.
Take a Boat Ride to Tarkwa Bay
You guys. If you’ve never taken a boat to Tarkwa Bay, stop what you’re doing and add it to your weekend list NOW. I once went on a spontaneous trip there with a group of friends, and it was so worth it.
The boat ride from CMS or Victoria Island is short (and thrilling), and once you arrive, you’re met with soft sands, surfboards, and an almost untouched beach experience. It feels like a mini-vacation, right within Lagos.
Bring your snacks, sunscreen, and that waterproof Bluetooth speaker. Here, the vibes are mandatory.
Lagos Street Food Tour
If you’re like me and food is your love language, then welcome to heaven. Lagos has some of the best street food you’ll ever try, and weekends are the perfect time to indulge.
Start with Boli (grilled plantain) and groundnut, grab some spicy suya from a trusted mallam, and don’t forget agege bread with egg from that roadside woman who always has a line.
I once did an actual “food crawl” across Surulere with a friend, rating puff-puffs and jollof rice from random spots. 10/10 would do again.
Hang Out at A Park
Parks are such cool and underrated spots. For example, Freedom Park was once a colonial prison, it’s now a cultural hub with art installations, palm trees, food vendors, and music events.
I’ve gone there for everything from poetry slams to reggae nights, and it always delivers. It’s affordable, laid-back, and full of character. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a live performance or a mini pop-up market while you’re there.
Sunset drinks
Let’s be real, Lagos sunsets hit differently, especially with a cocktail in hand and your feet in the sand. Now, imagine having sunset drinks on a beach!
Whether you’re into DJ parties, soft music, or just people-watching while sipping a mojito, this is a fun activity to do on the beach. I always leave with sand in my shoes and a smile on my face.
