Woven threads VII: What you missed and Favorite Nigerians designers you need to know

Style house files just concluded a 4-day program, woven threads VII themed crafted. This event was held from 9th of April to 12 of April 2026. And I must say I had a blast. The show kicked out with an exhibition featuring some of the best Nigerian craftmanship for viewers to enjoy. And of course, shop it.

Although, I barely got to the event in time. So, I missed out on the talk, yet I still had a great time at the cocktail dinner to launch the 4-day event. This party was graced by fashion influencers like Denola gray, Derin of Isale eko among other dignitaries. It was indeed a time to unwind and network with the lovers of Nigerian fashion in one space.

Woven threads VII: all you need to know

This year is the 7th Edition of Woven threads, and I must say it is one the best they have ever had. The event took place at 274A Kofo Abayomi street, Victoria island which of course is accessible but a long trek for those of us that chose to take a bus to the venue.

The show was kicked off with an opening address by style house files and Lagos fashion week founder, Omoyemi Akerele. She set the tone of the event by centering craft within responsibility, renewal and systems change.

As we look at woven threads over the last seven years, we have been committed to challenging ourselves to think deeper and to act more intentionally, with the conviction that Africa is not just participating in the future of fashion but actively shaping it.

Long before sustainability became a global imperative, it was already embedded in the way we live, the way we create and the way we coexist across the continent. Our craftmanship is not simply aesthetic, it is memory, it is science, it is survival and it is care.

I cannot but agree more with her speech as the whole goal of style house files is to promote African fashion creativity and of course sustainability to ensure that we don’t hurt the earth while being the best in the fashion world. Now let’s get into some of my favorite designer presentation at the show.

What is a fashion event without some fashion right?

Woven threads VII: Designer presentations

Day 2 to day 4 featured various talks to encourage the youths and also share the unique craftmanship of some of our favorite designers. These designers have indeed pushed boundaries and created their best each time they show case.

Some of the designers featured include: Emmy Kasbit, tuntunre, this is us, Dunsin craft, Nya, Eki kere, Hertunba among others. When I got to the event, the designer work that first struck me is Tuntunre. I remember seeing this brand on threads talking about how they upcycle denims to make beautiful bags, wallets, laptop bags among others. And since then, I have always had them on my Wishlist of Nigerian fashion brands to shop.

Any who, Let’s take a look at some of the designs from Woven threads VII presentations that made me gag. And I know that you will love them too.

Tuntunre

I have an obsession with handbags. So, naturally I fell in love with Tuntunre brand. They make all their products range from upcycled denim which to me is great concept. Have them on my wishlist and hope to snag one or two items from them.

Hertunba

Hertunba has always been that quirky bold style for me. But the above outfit is something different that I really love from this brand. The blend of craftmanship of fringe detail, the chocolate color of the fabric and the choice of beads made into a top made this look very interesting. I really how this speaks to our heritage yet gives a modern feel.

Eki Kere

Need summer escape to somewhere in Africa look no further than Eki Kere. The brands know how to make whimsical pieces that speaks to my inner child. Wanting to be at the sea shore or simply on a yatch holidaying, love the raffia hat detail on this number.

Wote

This is my favorite piece from the presentation by Wote. This brand is all about knits, crotchet and artsy pieces. I love this shirt dress number. The one shoulder details and of course the splash of paint that makes it an exquisite work of art. Love every detail that makes up this look.

Pettre Taylor

I am quite new to this Nigerian designer brand. And I must say that the designs caught my attention. I love all the styles that was presented. The dress above is my favorite. In as much as it looks messy. It is a fun type of messy that I am willing to style for vacation. Somewhere hot and windy. Love this look.

I must say that woven threads VII is one of my Nigerian fashion events safe for Lagos fashion week. Any who, I had a blast taking in all the fashions, the unique craftmanship that tell a tale of African style, culture and beauty. Let me know your thoughts below. Did you attend Woven threads VII?
