Best Luxury Resorts to Visit in Nigeria: 10 Places I’d Personally Escape To in 2026

Nigeria is often associated with energy, movement, and unstoppable city life. But whenever I need to slow down, reset, and indulge in comfort, I remind myself that this country is also home to some incredibly serene luxury resorts. From lakeside estates near Lagos to mountain retreats above the clouds, there are places here that genuinely feel like stepping into another world. Here are top 10 Best luxury resorts to visit in Nigeria.

In this guide, I’m sharing 10 luxury resorts in Nigeria that I would personally recommend. It could be that you need a luxury resort for wellness weekends, celebratory getaways, or simply a break from Lagos traffic.

In no particular order, they are:

Best Luxury Resorts to visit in Nigeria

If you have been an ardent reader on this blog, you know I am all about budget friendly vacations. A cheap staycation in my area or a visit to a neibouring state is my jam.

This year, I am all about luxury resorts in Nigeria. I have not really visited a luxury resort. Top on my list is Ilashe resort. And I have visited La Campagne Tropicana for a day trip but I would love to re-visit for a full stay on this resort.

Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Estate, Lagos

Whenever I think about escaping Lagos without actually leaving Lagos, Lakowe Lakes is always the first place that comes to mind. Located about 68 km from Ikeja, the capital city, this estate is intentionally designed as a peaceful retreat away from urban stress. It combines residential luxury with hospitality, golf, and leisure experiences.

The property features an 18-hole championship golf course surrounded by palm groves, lakes, and landscaped greens that create a resort-style environment rather than a typical hotel setting.

I love the idea of staying in one of the Balinese-inspired cottages overlooking the water, waking up to stillness, then spending the day paddle-boating, golfing, or just doing absolutely nothing. Guests can fish, run scenic trails, or relax at wellness facilities designed for recreation and relaxation.

For me, Lakowe feels like the Nigerian version of a countryside club escape. It is quiet, refined, and deeply restorative.

IITA Forest Reserve & Resort, Ibadan

Whenever I want a nature-immersive stay, I think of IITA in Ibadan. The experience here is less about glamour and more about understated and eco-luxury calm. I mean, think about taking long walks under tall trees, lakeside views, and silence you rarely find in cities.

Staying inside a research reserve gives it a unique character as it feels secluded, intentional, and intellectually peaceful. I imagine mornings with coffee overlooking the lake and evenings cycling through forest paths. Have you visited Ibadan Nigeria? Trois Ore Residences, Ibadan

Trois Ore Residences represents a newer wave of Nigerian luxury. It has residential-style hospitality that blends privacy with hotel-level comfort.

What draws me here is the exclusivity. Instead of a crowded resort, I imagine a curated stay with modern interiors, personalized service, and the kind of quiet luxury ideal for extended stays or intimate gatherings.

It’s the sort of place I’d book when I want to feel like I live there, not just visit.

La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Lagos

If I want a coastal getaway without flying out of Nigeria, La Campagne Tropicana is an obvious choice. Set on a 60-acre beachfront, the resort blends African-themed architecture with modern luxury.

It uniquely combines a private Atlantic beach, lagoon, forest, and freshwater environments in one destination. I’d spend my day kayaking or lounging by the ocean, then enjoy cultural performances at night. At this resort, luxury is intertwined with Nigerian heritage rather than detached from it.

Ibom Hotels & Golf Resort, Uyo

Built in 2007, this luxury estate includes 163 rooms, suites, and villas alongside an 18-hole golf course and extensive wellness facilities such as a sauna, fitness center, and outdoor pool. The resort’s design caters to both leisure travelers and corporate guests seeking indulgence and privacy.

Ibom Resort is where I imagine going when I want a true five-star escape. It’s the kind of place I’d book for a milestone birthday or anniversary trip.

Obudu Mountain Resort, Cross River

Obudu feels like Nigeria’s answer to alpine travel. This is where I’d go when I want adventure mixed with luxury.

Located on a plateau about 1,600 meters above sea level, it offers cool mountain air, hiking trails, and panoramic scenery. At this resort, you can enjoy a cable car that carries visitors up the mountainside, creating one of the most dramatic resort arrivals in the country.
