Accra ghana to me is quite similar to Lagos in the vibe they both give. They are both the major recreational hub of their respective countries. So, you I would definitely explore the beach. One of the beaches in Accra that I visited is sandbox beach Accra. Is it worth the hype or nah? We would talk about it in a minute.
Sandbox beach Accra is a beach club. So, you cannot up and go to this beach. You have to make a reservation if you would be a group. Plus they expect you to buy something if you’d be booking a reservation.
My first impression of this beach is its exclusivity. You feel the class once you get to reception at the entrance. Every one is asked if they made a reservation and under what name. I am not sure I can’t just go without a reservation. If you have this information, let me know in the comments.

Sandbox beach Accra Ghana is a beach club located in famous Labadi beach. I love the serenity and the comfortable seat options. We would have opted to see Labadi beach with has an entry fee but opted for a beach club instead. Was it worth? Yes and no.
Sanbox beach club: Things to do
Sandbox beach reservation grants you access to most of their facilities. I never knew they have an art gallery until I am writing this. This would have been a game changer for me. I was bored after eating and taking pictures. This would have been an extra perk for me. But anywho, I digress. Lets get into the fun things you can do.
Have a picnic
If you are ina group, you can order one of their platter to have a picnic. For me, I feel Sandbox beach club is one of their high-end beach clubs. So , the prices are up there. However, with the platter, you can pull funds together and get huge platters for a picnic close to the beach.
One thing I love about sandbox is the beach view access. However, I wish the beach water was cleaner.
Enjoy Accra, Ghana Night life
Sandbox beach Accra is one the best places to enjoy accra night life. This is especially the weekend. Friday to sundays, they are available till late at night. However, when I visited, they were doing a tribute to the water gods. So, there was no music.
However, asides that slight hiccup, it is a fun place to enjoy the night life. Eat good food and dance away your stress of the week. What better way to end the week that a fun night out at the beach?
Have fun with your family and friends
Sandbox beach club is a family friendly beach. So, you don’t have to worry about if your kids are allowed access. However, there is not many facilities available for kids’ entertainment.
Although, there is a section of the pool area which kids can stay and have fun. I wish they had like a bouncing castle or water games sport to entertain kids so a couple can have time to themselves.
Swim at the pool
I love the pool area even though I was not going to swim. You know most people like me cannot swim to save their lives. So, yes, I was not going to swim. However, I stayed with a friend I met who wanted to swim so bad. Her first reaction is that is so cold.
Ghana is cold in August. So, I was not surprised. The breeze can blow you away to another state. Anywho, with time the water grows on you. The service is what I enjoyed. The servers knew to handout a clean towel to their guest without us asking. What could be better than that? Trust me, that service beats my imagination.
Also, the way they treat you if you came to celebrate your birthday, it’s a wow.

- access to the pool for free
- A bar area for drinkers
- A smoker’s joint and shisha stand which doesn’t affect other guests who doesn’t smoke
- Mouth watering cuisines
- An art gallery
- Free access to the beach area
Sandbox beach Club Opening hours.
Sandbox beach club is opened daily starting 12pm except Monday which is it closed. I wonder why it is not opened on Monday. Maybe it is time off for the employees. Anyways, see below the opening schedule.
- Tuesday – Thursday: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- Friday – Sunday: 12:00 PM till late
- Monday: Closed
What to wear to sandbox beach?
There is really no dress code for entry. However, I will say dress night for a beach day. And if possible, go with something warm if you would be staying till night. It is typically cold at night.
You don’t need to wear a bikini from home. You can simply change into your swimwear if you need to swim or take go to the beach. Opt for breezy beach outfits. Be as comfortable as possible. Comfort is key.
