Okay, let’s talk about my current obsession—the denim dress. Here I will share how to wear denim dress for Schick summer or spring. Denim is one of those timeless fabrics that never goes out of style, but every season, we get to play with it in totally new ways. And let me tell you: spring/summer 2025 is serving lewksss.
Whether it’s an oversized shirt dress, a figure-hugging mini, or a dreamy button-down midi, there’s a denim dress out there for everyone. And the best part? You can dress it up or down, wear it to brunch, the beach, a picnic, or even a casual date night (hello, versatility). So let’s dive in!

How to wear denim dress in 2025
I have always wanted to add denim dresses to my collection. But getting the right style took a while. Now I have two denim dresses in my closet but there is room for more.
Denim dresses are summer staple you need in closet. And they can do much for you during the fall season. So, you need to get at least two denim dress style for yourself. Here is an elevated way to style denim dress in 2025.

Pair with White Sneakers
Let’s be honest, white sneakers are basically the MVP of spring and summer. When I’m running errands or grabbing coffee with my girls, I always throw on a pair of fresh kicks with my denim dress. It instantly makes the look casual-cool and comfortable. You know those days when you want to look effortlessly cute but still feel like you’re wearing PJs? Yep, this combo is it.
You should go for platform white sneakers if you want a lil height boost without the pain of heels 🙂
Add a Pop of Color with Accessories
This is one of my fave ways to make a denim dress feel brand new every time. Denim is neutral, so it’s the perfect canvas for bright accessories. I’m talking about bold bags, chunky colorful jewelry, vibrant hair clips, or even a neon belt. One time, I wore a denim mini gown with hot pink hoop earrings, a matching scrunchie, and green sandals, and I felt like walking sunshine.
Yes, bright colors are still very much fashionable, so do not be shy! Mix colors, clash patterns, and have fun!
Go Boho with a Flowy Kimono or Crochet Layer
If you’re in your boho era (which I constantly find myself in around May, tbh), layering a light kimono or crochet piece over your denim dress gives such a dreamy, wanderlusty vibe. I wore this combo to a beach bonfire last year, and it was a vibe. Denim shirt dress, white crochet kimono, tan leather sandals, and a straw hat = effortless goddess energy.
You can also add beaded jewelry or feather earrings for extra flair. And don’t forget a slouchy crossbody bag for the ultimate laid-back look.
Cinch That Waist, Babe
Sometimes denim dresses can feel a bit boxy, especially the oversized or shirt styles. My solution? BELTS. Belts are magic. I swear, adding a cute belt can take your outfit from “meh” to “main character.” I love using a wide tan belt with gold details or even a denim-on-denim belt moment for a more cohesive look.
If you’re going for a monochrome denim vibe, try mixing textures (like a woven or leather belt) to break it up and add depth.
Dress It Up with Heels and Statement Jewelry
Don’t sleep on how chic a denim dress can look when you glam it up. I’m talking strappy sandals, gold hoops, maybe even a red lip if you’re feeling bold. I once wore a dark denim midi dress with square heels and layered gold necklaces to a dinner date, and I got so many compliments. Everyone was like, “Wait… denim??” And I’m like, “Yesss, queen, denim, but make it fashionable.
For spring/summer 2025, metallics are trending hard, so silver heels or gold bangles are perfect to add that futuristic shine.
Keep It Breezy with Sandals and a Straw Hat
This is my go-to picnic or farmer’s market outfit. A light-wash denim dress + flat sandals + a straw hat = instant springtime aesthetic.
Add a little basket bag (yes, I do carry one, and yes, I do get asked where it’s from every time), and you’re basically a Pinterest board. I like to go makeup-light and let my skin breathe when I wear this kind of look. I would typically only have just some tinted SPF, glossy lips, and good vibes.
As a plus, try braiding your hair or going for soft waves to really lean into that laid-back summer energy.
Layer with a White Tee or Tank
So this one’s for my fellow 90s/2000s babies. You know that nostalgic little style trick where you wear a tee under a strappy dress? Yep. It’s BACK, and I am living for it. I love doing this with a sleeveless denim slip dress and a crisp white baby tee underneath. It’s cute, it’s modest, it’s retro, and it’s super breathable for hot days.
Bonus if you pair it with mini sunglasses and chunky sneakers. I wore this combo to a festival last summer, and it was a look.
Play with Denim Shades
Okay, listen, I know some people are scared of denim-on-denim, but I promise it’s not a fashion crime. In fact, it’s so in vogue right now. I’m obsessed with pairing a medium-wash denim dress with a light-wash denim jacket or even a chambray shirt tied around the waist. Just mix up the washes and add different textures, and you’ll look fashion-editor approved.
For a really fresh spring 2025 twist, try mixing in pastel denim like a pale blue or blush pink jacket. Instant upgrade!
Switch Up the Silhouette Based on the Occasion
Not all denim dresses are created equal, and I love that. I have a few different styles in my wardrobe, and they each have their moment depending on the vibe:
- Mini dress – For day parties or rooftop brunches (with wedges and a little bag).
- Shirt dress – Casual cool, perfect for a day in the city or a quick supermarket run.
- Midi/Maxi – For those chill days when I want to feel a little more elegant but still comfy.
- Off-shoulder or puff-sleeve – Girly and flirty, ideal for a garden party or casual summer wedding.
Try different fits, too! Belted, wrap-style, tiered, A-line, etc. Denim can do it all!

Don’t Forget the Sunglasses
You know how every spring/summer outfit just feels incomplete without a killer pair of sunnies? Trust me, a good pair of shades can make even the simplest denim dress look like a whole photoshoot moment.
I like to switch it up when it comes to sunglasses. From cat-eye for glam days, to round Lennon-style ones for my boho moments, and classic black frames for “don’t talk to me, I’m chic” days.
And if you’re headed to the beach or an outdoor festival? Add SPF, a bold lip balm, and you’re unstoppable.
It’s time to dust off that denim dress or buy three more 🙂 and start styling! Trust me, your spring/summer wardrobe will thank you!
