10 Best Beaches in Ghana You Absolutely Need to Visit

There’s something about Ghana’s coastline that just makes me giddy every time I think about it. I don’t know about you, but the golden sands, coconut trees swaying, and the Atlantic Ocean crashing in with that dramatic flair only nature can pull off is something that calls my name every time! So, I did a roundup of top 10 best beaches in Ghana to add to your travel bucket list.

Whether you live in Ghana or simply a tourist looking for where to have a good time in Ghana, you need to check out these places. My favorite on the list is the popular Sandbox beach club. Talk about class, good food and cool breeze. Yet I wish the water of the beach itself is as clear as at of Serenity beach. But who am I?

I’ve been lucky enough to hop along different stretches of Ghana’s coast, and let me tell you, each beach has its own personality. Some are wild and buzzing with life, others are calm little pockets where time slows down.

So, if you’re plotting your next beach escape, here are my 10 favorite beaches in Ghana that you absolutely need to experience:

Top 10 best beaches in Ghana

The coastal water of Ghana is the most beautiful place to be. Followed by that in Lome. I really wish, Nigeria can display such immense beauty the country has instead of covering it up with high rise buildings.

This I hope the ongoing Lagos to Calabar coastal road will sort out. That is if it gets completed in my lifetime. Anyway, let’s get into the top 10 best beaches in Ghana you need to explore ASAP. This list from the most popular Ghana beaches to the priciest options there is.

 Labadi Beach

Labadi Beach is basically the Beyoncé of Ghanaian beaches. I like to refer to it as the life of the party as it’s loud, fun, and unapologetically extra. Anytime I go, I’m greeted by live drummers, acrobats flipping in the sand, and horse riders trotting by like it’s the most casual thing in the world.

If you love a crowd, you’ll love Labadi. I once went on a Sunday and felt like I had stepped into a giant street carnival with food sizzling, music blasting, and people just living their best lives. On quieter weekdays though, you can still get a peaceful stroll by the water before the energy picks up.

Sandbox Beach

Now, if Labadi is Beyoncé, Sandbox Beach is Rihanna –  cool, stylish, and effortlessly trendy. Yes, this beach is that chic and curated babe!

This spot is more of a beach club than a wild public beach, and that’s what I adore about it. Picture lounging on a sunbed with a cocktail in hand, Afrobeat vibes in the background, and the waves as your soundtrack.

The last time I went, I couldn’t stop raving about their food. It’s not just “beach snacks”; they serve proper meals that make you want to extend your stay way past sunset. And yes, their pool overlooking the ocean? Instagram heaven.

Serenity Beach

The name of this beach says it all. On days when I want the opposite of noise and chaos, I sneak off to Serenity Beach. Tucked away near Tema, it’s peaceful, breezy, and honestly feels like a secret hideaway.

I once spent an entire morning here with just a book and my thoughts. The only interruptions? The sound of the waves and the occasional fisherman hauling in his nets. If you’re someone who values peace and quiet, this is your spot.

 Kokrobite Beach

Oh don’t you just love a beach that gives artistic soul energy!? Kokrobite is pure magic. The moment you arrive, you feel this bohemian, artsy energy. There’s usually drumming, dancing, and a real sense of community. It’s where locals, tourists, and creatives all blend together.

I once joined an impromptu drum circle here, and let me tell you, I was terrible, but no one cared. That’s the beauty of Kokrobite. It’s about expression and fun, not perfection. It’s also a wonderful spot to catch a fiery sunset.

Busua Beach

If surfing is your thing (or if you’re like me and just want to try standing up on a board for five seconds), Busua Beach is your playground. This place has become Ghana’s surf central, with schools ready to teach you the ropes and waves that are gentle enough for beginners but still exciting.

And the vibe? Think chilled surf cafés, backpackers swapping stories, and that laid-back lifestyle you can’t help but fall in love with. I always leave Busua with sandy hair, a tired body, but the happiest smile.

Bojo Beach

Bojo Beach feels like stepping into a secret. To even get there, you take a short boat ride across the Densu River, and then suddenly — boom — a stretch of clean sand with the river on one side and the ocean on the other.

The dual-water view is unreal. I remember sitting in a cabana here, sipping a chilled drink, and thinking, “Wow, I could honestly live here.” It’s great for families too because the vibe is safe, neat, and controlled.

Ada Foah

Ada Foah is where the Volta River kisses the Atlantic, and it’s one of those places that just feels special. Palm trees line the shore, the sand is soft, and there’s this dreamy calmness in the air.

I once went on a boat ride along the estuary and ended the day eating fresh tilapia by the water. If you’re into water sports, Ada Foah is also great for kitesurfing, jet-skiing, or just cruising along in a canoe.

Anomabo Beach

Anomabo has this wonderful mix of heritage and natural beauty. You’ve got the Anomabo Fort standing tall with its history, and just beside it, the soothing waves and sandy beach calling you in.

When I visited, I spent the morning learning about the fort’s story and then sprawled out on the beach for the afternoon. It’s not overly crowded, so you can get that reflective, almost spiritual connection with the ocean.

Axim Beach

Way out west, Axim Beach is the definition of a hidden gem. It’s long, wide, and relatively untouched compared to the busier beaches near Accra. I like to see this beach as a true escape.

I loved walking along the shore here because it felt endless. I mean, just me, the palm trees, and the fishermen fixing their nets. If you want to switch off your phone, disconnect, and recharge, this is the place. Plus, there are small beach resorts around where you can stay overnight and wake up to ocean views.

Brenu Beach

Cape Coast isn’t just about history and castle. The beaches here are stunning too. After exploring Cape Coast Castle (which is such an important and emotional experience), I found myself at Brenu Beach nearby, letting the waves calm me down.

It felt symbolic, you know? The heaviness of history followed by the peace of the ocean. If you’re planning a trip to Cape Coast, definitely include a beach day. It balances the mind and soul beautifully.
