Exotic Palace Hotel

I’ll start with this one because it feels like a hidden gem. Exotic Palace Hotel is budget-friendly but doesn’t skimp on comfort. The first time I walked into their lobby, I thought, “Wait, this is the budget option?” Rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and surprisingly stylish. They’ve got an on-site restaurant where you can order both Ghanaian and continental meals, so whether you’re craving banku with tilapia or just a plate of fries, you’re covered.

If you’re a traveler like me who likes a mix of exploring and chilling, this is a sweet spot. I’d definitely recommend waking up early, grabbing a hearty breakfast at the hotel, and then heading into town for sightseeing.

Accra City Hotel

This is one of Accra’s OG budget hotels. I love that it is affordable but consistent. I once checked in late after a long flight, and the 24-hour reception felt like a lifesaver. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the buffet breakfast is everything I need: fresh fruits, eggs, pastries, and good coffee.

What makes Accra City Hotel such a good deal is its location. You’re in central Accra, which means you’re only a quick ride away from the Arts Centre, Makola Market, and Osu. If you want to stay in the thick of things without paying luxury prices, this hotel is perfect. I also love their pool as it comes in handy on hot Accra afternoons, it’s the best way to cool off after exploring.

KoKo Palm Inn

I’m a sucker for small hotels that feel personal, and KoKo Palm Inn delivers exactly that. The staff here are friendly. One thing that stood out is how they remember your name, your preferences, and sometimes even offer tips on where to go in the city. The rooms are cozy, the Wi-Fi is solid (for those of us who need to work a bit while traveling), and breakfast is included.

The location is near the airport, which makes it amazing for first or last nights in Ghana. I once stayed here the night before an early-morning flight, and honestly, it felt like a smart move. Instead of stressing in traffic, I just had a calm breakfast, packed, and got to the airport in under 15 minutes.

Tumi Hostel

If you’re heading up to Kumasi, I beg you to consider Tumi Hostel. It’s one of the most colorful, friendly budget options I’ve ever seen. The first thing you notice is the décor with  bright murals, cozy sitting areas, and a laid-back vibe that instantly makes you want to strike up a conversation with fellow travelers.

I stayed in one of the dorm rooms and loved the energy of meeting backpackers from all over the world. But they also have private rooms if you want quiet time. The café is another highlight: they serve smoothies, local dishes, and really good coffee. In the evenings, I’d sit outside with new friends, talking about the chaos of Kejetia Market or planning the next day’s adventures.

Hans Cottage Botel

This place is legendary in Cape Coast. Hans Cottage Botel is not just a budget hotel, it’s an experience. Built partly over a lagoon, the setting is unique, and you might even spot crocodiles chilling in the water (don’t worry, they keep them at a safe distance).

The rooms are simple, but the magic is in the atmosphere. After spending the day exploring Cape Coast Castle and Kakum National Park, nothing beats coming back here, ordering a cold drink, and sitting by the water. I still remember the evening I sat there listening to live drumming from a local group. It felt like the perfect Ghana moment.

Wadoma Royale Hotel

Wadoma Royale is the kind of hotel that surprises you. It looks like a mini-resort but is very reasonably priced. The pool area is spacious, and the rooms are much bigger than you’d expect for the cost.

One evening, after spending hours in Kumasi traffic, I finally reached Wadoma and immediately jumped into the pool. That feeling of floating in cool water as the sun set  was unbeatable. If you’re exploring the Ashanti Region and want a comfortable, affordable place to retreat to at night, Wadoma is a fantastic choice.

La Villa Boutique Hotel

This one is a step up in style but still budget-friendly compared to the big luxury names in Accra. La Villa Boutique has this cool, artsy vibe with modern rooms, a lovely pool, and a restaurant that serves both Ghanaian and international dishes.

I’d book this hotel when I want to feel like I’m treating myself but don’t want my bank account crying. It’s also close to Osu, which is Accra’s nightlife hub. So, imagine spending a night dancing at Republic Bar and then coming back to a stylish but affordable hotel.

Ike’s Cultural Village

Now, this one is for travelers who want more than just a bed. Ike’s Cultural Village feels like staying in a cultural retreat. The design is traditional, the gardens are peaceful, and the meals are authentic Ghanaian dishes prepared with love.

I stayed here once and got to join a drumming session in the evening. It wasn’t just a hotel stay, it felt like I was learning something about Ghanaian culture. If you’re in Kumasi and want more than the usual hotel vibe, Ike’s will give you a rich, affordable experience.

Feehi’s Place Hostel

Backpackers, this is your spot. Feehi’s Place is a hostel that’s right in the heart of Osu, which means nightlife, restaurants, and street food are all just a short walk away.

I love how social it is with dorms, shared kitchens, and common spaces mean you’ll never be lonely. I remember sitting on the rooftop terrace one night, sharing fried plantain chips with fellow travelers while talking about day trips to Aburi. If you want budget savings + new friends, Feehi’s is unbeatable.

The Pelican Hotel

Last but not least, The Pelican Hotel. Cantonments is a nice, quiet neighborhood in Accra, and The Pelican gives you the chance to stay there without breaking the bank. The rooms are neat, the staff are professional, and the vibe is peaceful.

It’s one of those hotels where you check in, drop your bags, and immediately feel at home. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a safe, affordable place that’s still close to restaurants, embassies, and major attractions.
