Throwback to Entertainment week Lagos 2024 and what you missed out on

What better way to end the year than attending entertainment week Lagos 2024. Did you attend the weeklong week that kicked off on December 10? Here is all you need know and what you missed out on.

Entertainment week Lagos is an annual end in Lagos Nigeria which commenced in 2023. This event takes place at the famous live spot event center located on Oba Elegushi road Lagos. There are so many fun things lined up to take part.

The event was borne to promote the creative industry in Nigeria. Whether you’re a creator or entertainer, this is a great hub for growth, mentorship and promotion.

I was delighted to be invited to cover the press. So, here are all the things you missed out on Entertainment week Lagos 2.0.

Entertainment week Lagos 2024

Before I go into what to know about this event and how it went down last year. Let’s talk about the Live spot event center. I must say I was impressed with the set up and the event center. My first day of attendance was the premiere of the movie, “the waiter” which I am bummed that I was allowed to see as press.

Mental note, attend as a guest for movie premieres (if there will be any this year). Also, there was red carpet glitz and glamour. I can never forget the look Dr Rummel served on the red carpet. We will get into more looks later in the blog post.

There is a fun art center/ games/fashion center. This is a fusion of entertainment, music, art and fashion all in one. Also, there is this cute arena where most creatives in the movie industry go to for meet-up and what not. I love it because it is well lit and of course perfect for pictures.

Did I mention the club in the same building? That is quite sickening. Who came up with this grand idea in Lagos, Nigeria? I attended the concert but couldn’t stay for so long, but I wish I lived nearby.

Anyhoo, let’s get into what went down at last year entertainment week Lagos 2024.

Round table talks and mentorship

Her excellency, Ambassador professor Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq, first lady of Kwara state gave a compelling speech titled, “Riding tides: Women reshaping Africa’s creative economy”.

She spoke about the contribution of women in shaping the film, fashion and digital media. Also, highlighted some challenges these women do face while bracing these sectors.

Another round table talk featured creatives like Enioluwa, Korty O, among others. They talked about what it takes to be a creator. How to monetize your content and attract brands. They emphasized the importance of standing out and being yourself. Brands can tell if you’re meant for them. Also, they spoke about being true to your brand and working with brands that aligns with your personal brand as a creator.

“The Waiter” Movie Premiere

This movie is a sequel produced by popular comedian AY. I cannot comment on the movie as I am yet to see it. However, I must say the red carpet looks for me were 50/50. The men were mostly dressed in casual outfits or the typical suits we see on the red carpet. Some of them are dresses in black promotional t-shirt for the movie.

But one man didn’t come to play. That is Dr Rommel, famous reality star of the real housewives of Lagos. Do you know that a new season has commenced? What the highlight for you so far?

The ladies look were more like okay for me. However, two looks stood out for me. It is lady wearing a white dress cinched at the waist like a corset style evening gown. I love how she styled her hair up and accessorize with silver heels and clutch. Chef kiss.

Another look for me is this lady in a black mini evening dress. It all about the fun details for me. The ruffle hem that is flouncy and full. Also, the beaded strap for me is a fun pairing for me. Love how she completed the look with a clear pair of heels and cute clutch.

Entertainment week Lagos day 5: Turn up and concert

I have never attended a concert, so I looked forward to this one. After being denied entry to see the waiter as press the previous day. I quickly booked my ticket to attend the concert as a guest. Who says I cannot be press and enjoy the event.

Remind me next time to attend the concert starting 11pm as the concert took that long to commence. I was giddy to attend but couldn’t enjoy the performances as I had to leave. Did I have fun? Yes, please, the DJ mix was exquisite.

Do I look forward to attending a similar concert this year? Yes and No. Yes, if I can book a stay close by but no, if not.

Other fun things that took place which I couldn’t attend include:

  • The runway show: Some of my favorite designers showcased some fun pieces. Also, there were showcases from fast rising designers too. I wish I attended. This is my favorite thing participate in.
  • Stand-up comedy: This I already knew I will pass on. Not because it wasn’t fun, but it fell during the week. My husband and I have had this on our to do list for date night but work!!!
  • mentorship talks
  • Games
