As a fashion girl, I am always excited to know the latest fashion trends. So, it made sense to talk about summer fashion trends that are out of style and what to wear instead. If you are yet to check out the 2024 fashion trends, please do. Some of these trends I have spoken about. So, you need to catch up.
I know that not all of us shop trends. Also, most of these trends may already be in your closet. So, you may not need to go on a shopping spree. All I am saying is you should bring the fashion trends that are in out to wear. And toss out these dated fashion trends.

Summer fashion trends 2024 that are out of style
Let dive right in. I will talk about summer fashion trends that are out and share what you should replace it with. Also, I will link some of my favorites of these trends if you’d like to shop it.
Summer fashion trends that are out: Heels
I know heels cannot be a trendy accessory. However, they are gradually going out of style for summer. The fashion girls are over fashion is pain. Now they are more interested in comfort.
What we are wearing instead: in place of heels, we are wearing kitten heels. Kitten are one of the best shoe styles you can wear all year round. Also, it goes with everything; pants, dresses, shorts etc. It is a great investment piece that will last in your closet. Also, you will wear it often as opposed to stilleto heels or block heel.
Out of style: Skinny Jeans
Skinny Jeans will always be my Jam whether it is out of style or not. This may also be same for you too. However, skinny jeans are now out of style. It is now seen as dated. So, if you love skinny jeans, sorry they are now out of style.
What we are wearing instead: Most of us thought that post covid, many will go for the regular outfit style. However, the era of relaxed fits has come to stay. Instead wear wide leg pants and tailored trousers. This one of the most comfortable summer fashion trends that I love. I love both Skinny Jeans and relaxed fit jeans or trousers.
Out of style: Leggings
I know the girls that love athleisure are giving side eye. You know that trend ongoing on tiktok ( bombastic side eye). However, the era of rocking leggings as actual outfit is over. Save for the gym or Pilates class.
What we are wearing instead: This has been replaced with Capris. There are so many ongoing conversations about Capris coming back. Some love it, while others can’t wait for it end. I am iffy about Capris. This style of pants are cute on ladies with long legs or taller girlies. However, for the petite ladies like me, it makes us look even more short. So, yeah, it may be on trend but I will pass on this one.
Summer fashion trends that are out of style: Midi dresses or skirts
One of my favorite summer outfits are skirts and dresses. However, I can do either maxi or midi length. Midi skirts and dresses are now out of style. Like I said earlier, every IT girl is all about comfort. Also, what is summer without Maxi dress or skirts.
What to wear instead: Now you can start wearing your maxi dress or skirts. These summer outfits are perfect for vacation. You can opt for summer colors like yellow, browns, black or prints like floral or leopard prints. A cute leopard dress or skirt is cute as a neutral. You can dress it up or down. I love leopard prints a lot.
So, for my girlies that don’t know how to mix prints and patterns, I’ve got you. I wrote a detailed post on how to match prints with patterns. So, be bold with summer maxi dress and skirts by going for prints. If you’d rather stay away from prints, opt for neutrals that will go with anything. Dress up your maxi dresses for a date night or dress it down for a brunch picnic or date.
Out of style: Crocs
This is one fashion trends that I am excited that it is out of style. The girlies went crazy for crocs last summer. Every body and their mama has a pair of crocs. It wasn’t only the girlies, men included. It was the IT shoe style that went viral. Well, now it is out of style.
What we’re wearing instead: If you’re on social media or following the fashion shows, you know that flatforms are now in style. Gucci is the one of the ambassadors of this trends. There are several cute Gucci flatforms in slides and loafers you can shop for. Also, there are several dupes of this Gucci flatforms from brands like Ego shoes UK or Ali-express. There is nothing these brands cannot dupe. I wrote a round list of similar sites like Ali-express that you can shop cute flatforms.
You can style your flatforms with maxi dresses, midi dresses, with denim pants or wide length pants. Flatforms will literally go with everything. Hence, you need to get it now.
Out of style: Oversized outfits
I am current losing so much weight. So, you can literally say I am an hater of oversized outfits. Oversize outfits are now out of style. One of the best ways to wear oversized outfits with fitted tops or bottoms. And for dresses, I love to wear oversized dresses with fashion belts to cinch the waist. If you don’t have fashion belts in your closet, what are doing??.
Fashion belts makes your outfit look chic and makes your legs longer. It gives you a balanced silhouette and perfect for an illusion of hour glass. Anyhoo, I digress, I am elated that Oversized outfits are out style. Unless, I add weight or can’t pass up on a specific oversized.
What we are wearing: Tailored outfits are replacing oversized outfits. I love tailored outfits. Well, my personal style is chic or elevated chic, girly and a splash of edgy. So, you see why tailored outfits are up my alley. Love it. The oversize outfit that I can get behind are dresses and wide leg pants or a bermuda short ( Jhorts).
