Fun Things To Do in Lagos for Detty December 2025

Every year, Lagos transforms into the most energetic place on earth once December arrives, and 2025 is already shaping up to be even wilder. Whenever I think of Detty December, I picture packed concerts, late-night food runs, warm breezes on the beach, and the excitement of knowing that anything can happen in this city. I am here to give you a rundown of fun things to do in Lagos for Detty December 2025

Whether you are part of the “I just got back crew” or simply want to have a good time in Lagos. There are so many fun things to do in Lagos for Detty December 2025. Some of these options are paid and suitable for the ballers. However, you can still find some cheap things to do for Detty December in Lagos in this detailed list. If you’re planning how to make the most of the season, here are some fun things I personally love doing (and will be doing again this year):

Budget friendly fun things to do in Lagos for Detty December 2025

Lagos can be so much fun during the Christmas season. And there are loads of things for everyone to do. Whether you’re a lover of art, you enjoy vibing and night life or you’re just fashion obsessed like I am, there is no dulling moment in Lagos state.

Hit the Major Detty December Concerts & Festivals

Lagos in December is basically one long music festival, and I always block off several nights just to soak it all in. Whether it’s Afro Nation, Live spot, Rhythm Unplugged, fly time Fest, or individual artist concerts, you’ll always find something happening every day of the week.

Last year, I can remember leaving a concert hoarse from screaming lyrics and still waking up ready to attend another show the next evening. That’s the energy Detty December demands. For 2025, I plan to buy my tickets early because Lagos concerts can sell out in minutes. Some fun events happening in Lagos you can attend include Entertainment week Lagos, African fashion week Nigeria, among others.

Spend a Day (or Night) at Landmark Beach

Being at the beach is one of my favourite escapes from the Lagos chaos, without really escaping Lagos. I love booking a cabana with friends, ordering seafood platters, and letting the DJ’s music fade into the sound of waves.

At night, Landmark beach transforms completely. Lantern lights, beach bonfires, shisha, etc. Every December I end up meeting someone interesting on the beach as well. This year, I’m trying out one of the newer beachfront restaurants to see if they live up to the hype.

Fun things to do in Lagos for Detty December 2025: Explore the Lagos Nightlife

If there’s one thing I’ve learned living in Lagos, it is that nightlife here is a sport.

I still remember a Detty December night when my friends and I jumped between four spots. We had dinner at Eric Kayser, drinks at Shiro, dancing at W-Bar, and late-night shawarma at Mega Chicken. And somehow, Lagos still wanted more from us.

For 2025, I’ve already bookmarked restaurants and lounges I want to try, from rooftop bars overlooking the ocean to underground lounges that only insiders know about. If you enjoy people-watching, soft life moments, or premium Lagos vibes, this is one activity you shouldn’t skip. Need a great place to eat good and vibe at Night, check out farm city Lekki.

Go on a Boat Cruise on the Lagos Lagoon

/Nothing says “I’m enjoying my life” like a boat cruise during Detty December. I love gathering a few friends, getting a cooler filled with drinks, curating a playlist, and cruising from Lekki to Ikoyi while watching the sunset bounce off the water.

One of my favourite experiences was a December boat cruise where we docked near a quiet part of the lagoon and had a mini dance party right on the deck. For 2025, I’m planning a themed boat cruise, maybe all white, maybe retro; I haven’t decided yet.

Try a Food Crawl Across Lagos

Lagos food culture has blown up, and December is when everything becomes even more exciting. I love dedicating an entire day to tasting my way through the city. Just imagine starting with a solid breakfast in Ikoyi, lunch at a Lekki café, then dinner at a high-end VI restaurant.

One time, I had jollof at three different restaurants in one day to judge which one really deserved bragging rights. (I’ll keep the winner to myself, but if we ever meet, I might tell you.) For 2025, I’m planning a “Detty Food Crawl” with categories like street food, fine dining, pastries, and Lagos-level cocktails.

Shop at Pop-Up Markets & Holiday Fairs

December in Lagos means artisan markets everywhere. I love going with a loose budget (because I know I’ll overspend), tasting free samples, buying handmade gifts, and discovering local brands I’ve never seen online.

My proudest find was a leather bag from a small brand at a pop-up I randomly found. I still get compliments on it. This year, I’m excited to check out new holiday pop-ups at Ikeja and Lekki because Lagos vendors always bring their A-game in December.

When Detty December starts wearing me out, I like giving myself one wholesome activity to balance things out. Omu Resort is great if you want a mix of adventure, animals, rides, and photo ops.

On the flip side, Nike Art Gallery is my go-to for calm energy and culture. I once spent three hours there just wandering through the artwork and picking out pieces I’d love to own one day. I’m planning to visit the gallery again earlier in the day to avoid the holiday crowds.

Attend a Detty December Brunch Party

Brunch parties in Lagos are not just about eating. Trust me, they’re full-on social events. Just picture bottomless mimosas, DJs spinning amapiano, and people dressed like they’re expecting paparazzi.

I went to one last December where the whole restaurant turned into a dance floor by 4 p.m., and someone even started a mini fashion parade. This year, I’m prioritizing brunches because they’re the perfect middle ground between partying and relaxing. If you’re book lover, there brunches you can attend like that which I attended with Bonang Matheba years ago.

One of such book brunches is the lit corner which offers a wide array of books is the lit corner. You can also sign up for exclusive access to the library and read as much as you want. Also, you get to borrow books that resonates with you to kick start the year 2026.

Explore Mainland Hotspots for a Change

People often forget that the mainland has its own December magic. I love taking a trip down to Ikeja or Maryland to visit lounges, arcades, and cinemas.

There were one night my friends, and I decided to “do mainland things,” and we ended up bowling, visiting a rooftop lounge, and then eating suya in the car at midnight. I often say that there are hidden gems on the mainland and I shall be exploring them.

Another fun way to enjoy Lagos hot spot is looking for budget friendly food spots like Amala sky and other cheap restaurant in Lagos that offer native delicacies that hit hard like white house bukka, Yaba

End the Year with a Beach House Party

If you’ve never attended a Lagos beach house party, you’re missing a top-tier Detty December experience. Renting a beach house with friends, grilling food, playing loud music, and swimming whenever you feel like it hits differently.

One of my favorite memories was a beach house countdown we did on New Year’s Eve. We had fireworks in the sky, music in the background, and everyone reflecting on the year in their own way. This year, I’m hoping to book a nicer beach house earlier, because the good ones get snapped up fast.

Which of these fun things to do in Lagos for Detty December will you try out? Which of these fun things to do in Lagos for Detty December is your favorite? For me it is the numerous fashion shows that pops up in Lagos. And of course, the pop sales of which on the mainland it is mostly at Anthony Lagos. Prices I am not sure of but I will be adding it to my 2026 Wishlist of fun things to do in Lagos for Detty December.
