What to wear to GT fashion weekend 2025
Last year I couldn’t attend GT fashion weekend. I can’t really say why I missed it but I did. However, in 2023, I had a blast. The runway pieces were exciting. So, this year I have decided to get off my arse and go to the fashion weekend. With the adverts I am seeing on YouTube, I know I will kick myself if I miss it.
So, if you’re wondering what to wear this year, I’ve got you covered. Here are 10 outfit ideas to help you slay GTCO Fashion Weekend 2025 like the stylish star you are:
Bold Monochrome Magic
Monochrome is a fashion statement that photographs so well. Pick one color and own it from head to toe. Last year, I saw a girl rocking an all-lime-green look with an oversized shirt, matching trousers, and neon heels. She looked like a walking burst of freshness.
For GT Fashion Weekend 2025, I’m thinking of something like cherry red, lavender, or sky blue. Pair a structured blazer with wide-leg trousers, throw in matching accessories, and you’re basically a walking Pantone dream. The trick is always in the textures. Mix satin with linen or leather with cotton to keep the look rich and layered.
Lagos Street Style
GT Fashion Weekend is the place for street style moments. Think Y2K meets African cool. Cargo pants, graphic tees, tiny bags, and statement sunglasses are your best friends here.
One of my favorite looks from last year was a guy wearing patchwork denim trousers, a vintage tee, and a chunky silver chain. Effortless but unforgettable. For me, I’d go with baggy jeans, a cute crop top, chunky sneakers, and maybe a bandana for that street-chic vibe.
I always advise that to be a Lagos street style queen, you do not need to be afraid of colors! Lagos is color, and you need to channel that energy unapologetically!
Power Suit
I love a good power suit moment, and GT Fashion Weekend is the perfect excuse to go big! Oversized blazers, wide-leg pants, or even a suit in a bright pastel shade? Say less.
If you want to stand out, ditch the classic black and go for a mint green suit or a soft pink co-ord. Add a pair of heels or sleek sneakers, a bralette underneath, and you’ve got that “I’m the main character” energy.
I wore a beige oversized suit to a fashion event once, and everyone kept asking where I got it from. Sometimes, it’s not the clothes, it’s the confidence
Denim Everything
Denim-on-denim has made the biggest comeback, and GT Fashion Weekend loves a good throwback. Whether it’s a denim corset with flared jeans, a denim mini dress, or even a denim trench coat, you can’t go wrong.
Last year, one look that stayed in my head was a girl in a patchwork denim two-piece with a micro bag. It was giving streetwear sophistication. You can dress it up with heels or keep it chill with sneakers and gold jewelry.
Cultural Remix
This is Lagos. So trust me, wearing ankara, adire, or aso-oke with a modern twist always hits. I’m talking about a bold adire jumpsuit or ankara pants with a white corset top. It’s classic meets contemporary.
I remember seeing someone pair aso-oke trousers with an oversized white shirt and metallic heels last year. Effortlessly chic. You can also add accessories that reflect your culture like cowrie earrings, beaded necklaces, or gele-inspired head wraps. This year, I’m tempted to wear an adire two-piece with sneakers because comfort can still be stylish.
Sheer & Chic
Sheer fabrics are having a major fashion moment. From mesh tops to tulle skirts, this trend is equal parts flirty and fashionable. If you’re feeling bold, go for a sheer dress layered over shorts and a bralette.
At GT Fashion Weekend 2024, I spotted someone in a sheer black maxi with silver embroidery and boots. It was giving edgy elegance.
You can also soften the look with sheer sleeves or a see-through button-up over denim shorts. Balance the transparency with confidence and subtle layering.
Athleisure
Who says sporty can’t be stylish? Athleisure is all about comfort with flair. Now, imagine wearing biker shorts, oversized bomber jackets, and chunky sneakers.
If you’re moving from the runway show to the after-party, this look works perfectly. I’d go with black biker shorts, a neon oversized tee, white sneakers, and maybe a fanny pack across the chest.
Last year, someone wore track pants with heels and made it work! That’s the kind of energy you bring to GT Fashion Weekend.
Romantic
Not every look has to scream edgy as soft, feminine outfits also stand out beautifully. Picture a flowy maxi dress, puff sleeves, floral prints, or pastel tones. It gives that effortless, ethereal vibe.
I still think about this lady I saw in a soft lavender chiffon dress last year. She looked like she had just stepped out of a dreamy editorial. Add strappy sandals and dainty jewelry, and you’re golden. If you’re attending during the day, this look keeps your cool, comfy, and still fashion-forward.
All-Black Everything
Black never fails, but at GT Fashion Weekend, you’ve got to elevate it. You’ve got to try an all-black fit with exaggerated details like puff sleeves, leather textures, or dramatic silhouettes.
All-black outfits also let your accessories shine, so don’t hold back on your shoes or bags.
Experimental & Extra
GT Fashion Weekend is literally where you can do the most, and no one will judge you. It could be metallics, feathers, exaggerated silhouettes, or avant-garde accessories. This is your chance to wear that outfit you’ve been too scared to post on Instagram.
I remember a guy last year who wore a sculptural jacket that looked like wearable art. People couldn’t stop taking photos. You can go for a statement trench, holographic skirt, or dramatic hat.
This year, I might try a metallic silver co-ord with bold eye makeup because if not now, when?
What will you be wearing to GT fashion weekend 2025? Which of these cute street style outfit is on your radar? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Ciao for now.
