One of the hottest 2026 fashion trends is sheer. Sheer has always been in trend. Since 2024 when it blew up, it has not shown any sign of slowing down. Personally, I love sheer. However, I prefer to wear it modestly. Why? Because I don’t feel ok wearing a huge granny pantie in my sheer dress or skirt in public.

Sheer styling 101
I chose to choose sheer styling as a course that needs to be studied. This is because sheer has been abused lately even by Celebrities and influencer who makes it a thing to run from.
With these sheer styling tips, you’d be sure to always look dashing even when you chose to hop on the naked trend. Now let’s get into how to wear sheer without going naked.
Sheer styling: Opt for a more modest silhoutte
This is my favorite way of wearing sheer. Wear a similar color shade under your sheer pieces. For example, a pair a white sheer dress with a white slip dress. The slip dress may be a little short like a mini dress but, it gives an effortlessly chic look pair with a white sheer dress or skirt.
I particularly love sheer skirts as it super easy to style. It works well with rompers, shorts, capris or even leggings to make it more modest.
Wear it as a mesh cover up
Another way that I love to wear sheer pieces or crotchet mesh skirts is as beach cover up. The beach is one place that I feel very comfortable to show skin. So, I highly recommend you wear your sheer skirts or shorts with your bikinis as a cover up.
I prefer to opt for onesies for my swimwear. However, with a mesh cover up, I don’t mind opting for a bikini set instead.
With a blazer
Sheer works so well with blazers. This is another chic way to wear your sheer pieces. This is the kind of style I would wear to an event or simply as a casual outfit.
Preferably I would recommend you style it with a long blazer for more modest looks. A typical blazer on a sheet dress or skirt for me is a no-no. So, I highly recommend you wear it with a long blazer.
With an Oversized shirt
I hate anything oversized. I prefer all my outfits fitted. However, an oversized denim or flannel shirt is a perfect combo to pair with sheer pieces. Want an elevated beach look, wear your sheer skirt or top with an oversized shirt. This look is super chic for a casual outfit. Particularly for lounging during your vacation,
Layer it with other pieces in your closet
Layering is an act that shows that you know how to dress. A skilled layered outfit says this is a fashion girly compared to badly worn layered pieces. Layer your sheer dress with slip dress or with sequin dress.
Layer your sheer skirts with shorts, contrasting colors to your mesh pieces or simply with nude body shapers. Skims have some good options of onesies body shaper that works fine However, if you don’t have the money for skims, opt for skims alternatives from Amazon, shein or Temu.
