Prioritize Quality Over Quantity

The Old Money aesthetic is all about classic, high-quality pieces that stand the test of time. So, focus on building a wardrobe of versatile basics made from durable fabrics.

In purchasing these items, you do not have to go to high-end fashion stores. Instead, what you need to do is have a lot of patience and intentionality. Then, look for sales, thrift stores, or online marketplaces where you can find well-made garments at a fraction of the cost.

You never can tell, what you may need could be a simple wool coat, cashmere sweater, or a crisp white button-down that exudes elegance.

Stick to a Neutral Palette

Old Money style favors neutral colors like beige, navy, white, black, and gray. These colors should be your favorites if you want to rock the old money aesthetic as these hues are easy

to mix and match, creating a polished look.

Importantly, avoid loud patterns and flashy prints. Instead, opt for solid colors or subtle patterns like houndstooth or pinstripes. This minimalist approach not only saves money but also keeps your outfits looking refined.

Invest in Timeless Accessories

Did you know that accessories play an important role in rocking the old money aesthetic? Yes, these accessories can elevate your outfit without breaking the bank.

So, look for classic pieces like pearl earrings, a silk scarf, or a leather belt. Vintage stores and estate sales are great places to find affordable treasures that add a touch of luxury to your look.

A well-crafted handbag or a simple gold necklace can also make even the simplest outfit feel more sophisticated.

Groom Yourself

The Old Money aesthetic isn’t just about clothes; it’s also about presenting yourself in a polished and put-together manner. This includes keeping your hair well-groomed, nails neat, and makeup understated.

A clean, fresh look is key—think natural makeup with a focus on glowing skin and well-defined brows. These small details can make a big difference in your overall appearance.

Go second-hand shopping

See, you are on a tight budget. So, there is no need to form. Again, there is no reason to patronize high-end stores when second-hand shopping can give you the same results you desire.

So, thrift stores, consignment shops, and online resale platforms are your best friends when trying to achieve the Old Money look on a budget. You can often find designer pieces or high-quality garments at a fraction of their original price.

Furthermore, do not be in a haste while doing your second-hand shopping. Instead, take your time to search through these options, and you’ll be surprised at the hidden gems you can find.

Learn to Layer

Layering is a great way to add depth and dimension to your outfits without spending a lot of money. It could be a simple sweater over a button-down shirt, or a blazer over a turtleneck. These can create a polished and sophisticated look.

In rocking the ol money aesthetics, stick to layers that are slim and well-fitted to maintain a clean and streamlined silhouette.

Footwear matters

Footwear can make or break an outfit, and in the world of Old Money, classic styles reign supreme. You would need to invest in a pair of quality loafers, ballet flats, or simple leather boots.

When picking these shoes, stick to neutral colors like black, brown, or tan, which can be paired with almost any outfit. Again, second-hand shops can be a goldmine for finding well-made shoes at affordable prices. If you can, prioritize leather or suede materials that age well and look better over time.

Tailoring comes in handy

One of the secrets to looking expensive is wearing clothes that fit perfectly as even affordable clothes can look high-end when tailored to fit your body just right. It’s time to find a good tailor who can make adjustments to your clothing.

This way, you can be sure that all your clothing look custom-made

ensuring that everything from your trousers to your blazers looks custom-made. It also leaves you looking outstanding.

Keep it simple

The Old Money aesthetic is about subtlety and refinement. To rock it, you should avoid over-accessorizing or wearing too many trends at once. Instead, focus on simple, well-coordinated outfits that emphasize classic lines and understated elegance.

Remember, less is more when it comes to this look.
