Let’s do quick recap of how Lagos fashion week 2024 went. There were the usual talks, master classes and fashion business series. I attended one of the Q-rising talks with some designers as panelist. It was quite enlightening. I believe every budding designer should attend these talks. These talks give you an insight on the business side of fashion, why you need to collaborate and what to expect in terms of the market in Africa.

The runways shows were a banger as per usual. So many fun designs were displayed. And from these runway shows you can tell what 2025 fashion trends will be like. I will go into details on my round up list of 2025 fashion trends for spring and summer.

A sneak peak of popular designers shows that bubble skirts or dresses, fringe details and sheer pieces will be huge for spring and summer. Also, what is Lagos fashion week without the bold print patterns and ode to the culture of Nigeria.

My favorite all time Nigerian fashion designer is Ugo Monye. This designer doesn’t fail to make a good impression in every fashion show. I love the mix of male and female designs he featured. I mean I know that Agbada is no longer for male alone. Yet, his agbada designs are perfect for male and female. I know you’re here to see the best street style from Lagos fashion week. So, lets dive right in.

Best street style from Lagos fashion week

The fashion this year has been lit in terms of street style. Bring it home, here a round up list of the best street style from Lagos fashion week 2024.

Bubble hem skirts

I know right. Everybody and their mama are all about bubble hem skirts. So, it came as no surprise to see this trend on the street style at Lagos fashion week. I have always wondered how best to style this bubble skirt. Also, I am not a fan of miniskirts. Yet, you can see options of bubble skirt that are midi or maxi skirt.

Simply do you. In this look she styles her bubble hem mini skirt with a matching statement blouse. The subtle shell details make this outfit unique and stylish. And I love how she styles the look with a pearl or beaded necklace. I love how the look come together. Will I wear it how she did? Not really but it is chic way to pull off street style look.

Will you be attending the upcoming GT fashion weekend? Don’t say I didn’t tell you, shop for a cool bubble hem as it will be everywhere you walk at the show.

Tweed Sets

Recently I bought myself a tweed jacket with a unique detail. Love it down and I can’t wait to style it. In this look she is wearing a tweed set. A culotte pant with a tweed vest top. The two-tone color of this tweed set made quite stylish. And for accessories, she wore a strappy heel and a red shoulder bag and of course sunglasses.

Will I style it differently? yes, I guess. I would go with a large bag as clutch and a pair of sneakers for comfort. This look is great as easy model off duty look. Plus, I can’t be bothered about wearing a pair of heels for fashion week.

Elevate your looks with a scarf

If you’re not new to the blog, you know that I love to wear scarves with my looks. Scarves has a way to elevating your looks without much effort. In this look, she wore a white button-down shirt and added a scarf as a bow tie. She paired this look with a jean skirt and white pair of boots. Love the whole look.

You know a white button is an essential for your wardrobe. I have been on the hunt for the right white button-down shirt that is budget friendly. So, I am definitely shopping the current black Friday sales on Jumia. Defacto brand has a good quality shirt that I can’t wait to snag with a few discounts.

Are you shopping for the black Friday sales? What are you planning shop for from black Friday sales?

Relaxed fit pant set

One thing that is super fun to style is a matching set. It takes no brain cell to style a matching set. All you need to figure are the matching accessories. In this look she wore a kimono and matching wide leg pants. I love her choice of hairstyle. You know that I love to see the “fro for Natural hair on the street. And of course she wore pearl necklace which I love.

I missed an opportunity to shop for a vintage Vivienne west wood necklace. Still on my wish list though. From the street style you can see that pearls are huge and is not going anywhere. So, I highly recommend you shop for at least one pearl necklace.

Sheer dress

Okay this has to be part of the list. As it is one of the biggest 2024 fashion trends. In this look she is wearing the popular Andrea Iyamah top as a mini dress. I love the style and the fact that she chose a black bra under neat. However, I would have gone for a skin tone bra like or brown to match my skin color.

She opted for a gold dumpling clutch and heels for the look. This I would never have thought red and gold go well together. The only thing I will switch in this look is to wear a nude bra or wear a wine camisole with this dress. Even a flesh tone body suit is perfect for this look.
